Standard for selecting raw materials in lime kiln production
As a key equipment for producing lime, the selection of raw materials in lime kilns directly affects the quality and output of lime. In the construction process of lime kilns, scientifically and reasonably selecting raw materials is the key to ensuring production efficiency and environmental protection.
1、 Quality requirements for limestone
Limestone is the main raw material for lime kilns, and its quality directly affects the firing effect and product quality of lime. When choosing limestone, the following aspects should be focused on:
High content of calcium carbonate: Calcium carbonate is the main component of limestone, and its content directly affects the firing speed and product quality of lime. Generally speaking, the higher the content of calcium carbonate, the faster the burning speed of lime, and the better the product quality. The calcium carbonate content of high-quality limestone is usually required to be above 97%.
Low impurity content: Impurities such as silicon, aluminum, iron, magnesium and other oxides in limestone will react with calcium carbonate during the firing process to form compounds that are not easily decomposed, reducing the purity of lime. Therefore, the lower the impurity content, the higher the purity of lime, and the better the product quality.
Uniform particle size distribution: The particle size distribution of limestone also has a certain impact on the firing speed and product quality of lime. Particles that are too large or too small can affect the firing speed and product quality of lime. Generally speaking, limestone raw materials with uniform and moderate particle size distribution are more conducive to improving the firing efficiency and product quality of lime.
2、 Quality requirements for coal or coke
The quality of coal or coke as fuel for lime kilns is equally important. When choosing coal or coke, the following aspects should be considered:
High fixed carbon content: Fixed carbon is the main component of fuel, and its content directly affects the combustion efficiency and heat output of the fuel. The fixed carbon content of high-quality coal or coke is usually required to be relatively high.
Low ash and sulfur content: Ash and sulfur are harmful substances in fuel that can produce pollutants during combustion and affect the environment. Therefore, when choosing coal or coke, it is advisable to choose varieties with low ash and sulfur content as much as possible.
High heat generation: Heat generation is one of the important indicators for measuring fuel quality. High quality coal or coke usually has a high calorific value, which can meet the needs of high-temperature calcination in lime kilns.
The selection of raw materials for lime kiln construction should strictly follow certain standards. When selecting limestone, attention should be paid to aspects such as calcium carbonate content, impurity content, and particle size distribution; When choosing coal or coke, attention should be paid to indicators such as fixed carbon content, ash and sulfur content, and calorific value. Only by scientifically and reasonably selecting raw materials can we ensure the efficient and stable operation of lime kilns and the production of high-quality lime.
