Calcium content meets the standard
The main component of limestone is calcium carbonate (CaCO3), with a calcium content of over 50%. A higher calcium content means that more calcium oxide (CaO) can be generated during the calcination process, thereby improving the activity and quality of lime. If the calcium content is too low, the activity of the lime obtained after calcination is poor, making it difficult to meet the requirements of industrial production for lime quality.
Having a certain degree of hardness
Limestone should have appropriate hardness and not be easily broken. During the mining, transportation, and crushing process, if limestone is too soft and fragile, a large amount of powder will be generated, which not only increases the loss of raw materials but also affects the subsequent calcination effect. Appropriate hardness can ensure good integrity of limestone during processing and calcination, which is beneficial for the stable operation of lime kilns.
Low impurity content
Impurities in limestone, such as silicon dioxide (SiO ₂), aluminum oxide (Al ₂ O3), etc., can affect the quality and properties of lime. Excessive impurities can lead to a decrease in the activity of lime and may also cause wear and tear on production equipment. Therefore, it is required to have less impurities in limestone to ensure the production of high-quality lime.
